Summary

This week I have a unique treat for you. After getting my dog Carl last April, I went on the search for a Dog Trainer and ended up meeting the incredible Annika McDade. Annika is a triple certified Professional Dog Trainer & Behaviour Consultant, who focuses primarily on the connection between dogs and their people. After working with Annika I was most compelled by her ability to relate canine training to human connection and relationship. In this episode we dive into dog training and connecting with our pets, and how it's correlated to our ability to connect and relate with humans. Find more about Annika at www.canineconnectiontraining.ca and find her on instagram @canineconnectiontraining. ~ Discover: The little things we never knew about our pets The connection between parenting, partners and puppies Expectations and behaviors with our pets The ripple effect of our nervous system The biggest mistakes we make Incredible helpful things you need to know about animals Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

0:24.4

He's been such an incredible teacher in so, so many ways, and he's this splendid little soul,

0:30.2

and sometimes when I ask him to do something, which, you know, is more like a command,

0:37.2

he looks at me, and I think he, you know, is more like a command. He looks at me and I think he,

you know, I was playing fetch with him the other day and he gave me this look like,

0:43.7

do you know how many times I've done this? Do you know how many lifetimes I've had? And here you

0:48.7

1:00.5

they actually might have.

1:02.7

Maybe they got it all figured out.

1:04.4

What we hear is barking is actually a really complex language.

1:08.3

It's kind of funny to think about.

1:10.8

But you know, in all this conversation about

1:12.4

relationship, I've observed within myself and within other people their relationship with

1:20.0

their animal and how I often see what we get frustrated about and even how we see the window into our animals thinking really being

1:32.7

correlated to a lot of our own triggers and pain that we've had and you know and it's been really

1:39.9

interesting to explore myself from that perspective so So since really the dawn of having Carl,

1:46.7

I've had a dog trainer, which really is a Mark trainer to help Mark train Carl. I'm always so

1:54.3

fascinated by our conversations because there's so much overlap in the experience of us with dog as there is with human with human.

2:04.3

And I thought, what better thing to have than a conversation about our relationship with our pets, our relationship with dogs?

2:10.6

So you're in for a real special treat because I brought on the amazing Anacama McDade, who is an incredible trainer, incredible teacher,
