Hi everyone and welcome to this week's squiggly careers podcast. I'm Sarah and I'm joined by my co-host Helen.

Hello everybody. And thank you so much for coming back to our podcast where we each week try to take on a different topic to do with work and particularly how we're all working in our new kind of squiggly careers, which we think

0:22.2

is everybody's sort of new normal. I think we're all experiencing squiggly careers in lots of

0:26.8

different ways. And we know this because when we talk to people about the podcast or the book,

0:31.3

everyone always talks to us about their equivalent of their squiggly careers. Sometimes that

0:35.6

means moving around in one organisation. Sometimes that

0:39.1

means doing different kinds of roles, working in different kind of areas, or sometimes that just

0:43.7

means trying out different types of work. So going to freelance or trying to ruin your own thing,

I think we all have our own kind of versions of what a squiggly career is. And hopefully each week

0:53.4

we take on a topic that just helps

0:55.0

you to navigate that career more in a way that works for you and spend much more time thriving

1:05.8

our book somebody described it to us over the weekend on Instagram as we have been their informal mentor

1:12.1

through both the podcast and the book over the last year. And I thought that was really lovely

1:16.5

and very reflective, I think, of what we are trying to do is to kind of be there as an informal

1:21.7

coach or a mentor. And if you have had time to read the book, if you've been kind enough to buy

1:26.3

it and you've made some quite quick progress, I would say, because we're only kind of a couple of months after it's

1:30.2

come out. Any reviews on Amazon are really appreciated and they really help us to make sure that we can

1:34.9

keep sharing the book as far as wide as possible. So thank you for doing that. And before we get onto

1:39.8

today's topic, which is all about comparison and the traps that comparison can create for us in our careers.

1:45.5

Just want to give you kind of a brief heads up into something that we are so excited that

1:50.4

is coming like in the next couple of days. So from the 4th to the 10th of March, we are going to be
