the important cinema club. Hot edition. Oh man. Here in Toronto, we've been suffering from a really

bad heat wave. Temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius. Folks, man's not supposed to be out there in weather like this.

Man's supposed to be at home, putting his feet in a bucket of ice water.

Or a room with the windows closed, no air conditioning, just sweating as we talk about westerns.

Or specifically about director Bud Beddickr.

Bud Beddickr is one of those directors who's been on my list of things to check out for a long time

because he's in my favorite category of director, people who the French critics in the 1950s and 60s loved.

Oh, man, do they love him?

Like, woo!

And specifically, like, studio filmmakers who made B movies

and who were not particularly heralded in their home country,

but who the French critics discovered.

And so Bud Bedecker also had the perfect string of movies

for those French critics that just glom on to,

which is he made a series with Randolph Scott

and the same screenwriter,

Bert Kennedy,

and the same producer, Harry Joel Brown,

and they were known as the Renowan cycle.
