Hi this is Steve. Film critic at large Scott Mance has been on four of my all-time

favorite episodes of the Synophiles. First, to discuss the greatest Star Trek movie of all-time, Wrath of Khan, next for Ridley Scott's

Sci-Fi Noir masterpiece Blade Runner, then Stephen Spielberg's groundbreaking close

encounters of the third kind, and finally the iconoclastic Stanley Kubrick's 2001 A Space Odyssey.

Four great films, four great podcasts. But there was only one problem.

Every one of those movies is science fiction.

So at the end of our last episode,

I challenged Scott to pick a film that he was equally passionate about,

but in a completely different genre. And boy, did he? You see, in a completely different genre.

And boy did he.

You see, in addition to being a huge science fiction fan,

Scott also happens to be a beetle maniac.

And guess what?

John and I are right there with him. So this week on the

cinnophiles, we are digging into the Beatles groundbreaking first film A Hard Days Night.

Made in 1964, this Richard Lester comedy is a reverent, chaotic, fast-paced, and backed by one of the greatest soundtracks in film history.

I mean, it would have to be right after all it's the Beatles so if you haven't seen a hard day's
