Greetings friends. I'm excited to introduce you to today's new episode of the podcast and my guest. Today's guest is someone

many of you know but if you don't know her I'm excited to introduce you to her.

Grace Lou Ellen is one I'm excited to introduce you to her.

Grace Lou Ellen is one of the people who shaped my homeschool.

Grace taught school for three years before she left teaching to write what is now considered a classic in the

unschooling world the Teenage Liberation Handbook how to quit school and get a

real life and education. Grace published this book in

1991 when she was only 26 years old. The book has been thoroughly updated and

re-released for its 30th anniversary in 2021.

In fact, our episode with Blake Bowles, which aired recently, talked about that collaboration

between Grace and Blake to re-release

the Teenage Liberation Handbook.

And they've updated it thoroughly

so that it matches this moment of technology and the internet and all the new

available options that did not exist in 1991. In 1996, Grace founded not back to school camp, a gathering for un-schooled teenagers,

which continues to this day to bring joy, inspiration, community,

and interesting challenges to her own life.

Along the way there have been three other books she's written,

two self-directed education centers and of course as she puts it

plentiful failure surprises mistakes mysteries adventures and life lessons

Grace loves every kind of dance especially especially the Argentine tango, and she lives in Eugene, Oregon

with her favorite son and their timid cat.
