0:00.0	Pope Leo the 14th has not been Pope one week yet, but he's already made an important statement
0:09.0	on the liturgy. And it's his first comment on how he envisions liturgy. And the encouraging
0:18.0	thing is it's in comparison to the Eastern liturgies.
0:23.1	He even says that we need the ancient, unchanged Eastern liturgies to help us in the West
0:32.9	to recover a sense of mystery.
0:36.5	Mastogogy, he even says we need the example of the Eastern liturgies to teach the West
0:42.6	to not allow consumerism or spectacles into the Western liturgy.

1:25.0	of our Lord Jesus Christ, and it connects us in time to all the
1:30.5	great saints. It's the mass of St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Bonaventure and the Little Flower
1:36.6	and St. Pius the 10th and St. Pius the 5th. And there's something about it that is resistant

1:46.5	to the temptation to modernize and update the liturgy to appeal to the masses.
1:57.1	It's ultimately anti-secular.
2:04.3	And Pope Leo is seeing that in the Eastern liturgies, and he's saying, we need that in the West. This is a signal. I know there's many
2:11.4	traditional Catholics out there like, yeah, but he didn't say this and he didn't say this, and when
