Welcome to Grumpy old geeks for July 31st 2015. I am Jason DeFilippo. And I am, as of yesterday,

the currently under-employed Brian Schultmeister. What happened, Brian? Well, that wonderful, awesome project

that I've been working on for the past seven to eight months has sadly collapsed and will not be

occurring anymore. And as of yesterday, I am no longer working on it. Oh, no. Yeah, it's time

for me to find another J-O-B. Man, that sucks. It does suck. But, you know, that's the world we live in now,

which is an article I found on salon that I find really interesting. We talk about this all the time

and the title from this one hits home particularly after yesterday. Your job will never love you.

Stress and anxiety in our frightening new job world. Oh, my. Yes, it's another lovely read about how

basically companies don't give a shit about us and you're on your own and good luck with that.

That seems to be a theme. It is. Yeah, it's a nice read. I mean, it's a... It's not a very nice read.

It's a terrible read. It's a terrible read, but it's very true. It will prepare you for the job

world that actually exists now as opposed to the one that people still promote that we pretend

that still exists that our parents had, which is one where you have a lifelong employee and

there's mutual trust and respect and we all take care of each other. That does not exist anymore.

It is a dog-eat dog world. Yes, it is. So if you want to get really depressed about your

about your current job, go ahead and read that. Okay, I think I'll pass. Okay. Actually, I can't pass

I already read it. Yeah. So I found this art interesting article on the kernel, which kind of

goes back to something we talked about several shows ago. Just talking about how Wi-Fi is affecting

people. I mean, even going back to episode five or six, talking about that story where the Wi-Fi

was killing the plants. Yeah, we did talk about that. One and then a couple months ago, it seems
