Hi, this is Steve. On the Cenophiles, we've talked about funny films, violent films, dark films,

thrilling films, and movies brimming with social commentary. But Paul Verhoven's 1987 film, Robocop, manages to be all those things simultaneously.

Now watching it this last time, I realize Robocop definitely isn't for everybody.

Its violence is gratuitous, its sense of humor is

dark and even morbid, and its depiction of American society is well negative to

say the least. But the truth is I love this movie. I have since I first saw it when I was 19.

Back then I was certainly drawn to the action in humor, but I kept coming back because Robocop

is actually about something.

It's about dehumanization and corporate greed.

It asks what price you're willing to pay for law and order

and even whether or not we have a soul.

So if you haven't seen Robocop, I highly recommend and even whether or not we have a soul.
