So around what year were you really starting to dig into the homosexual question?

2003, 2004.

So a couple years before writing the letter.

So this is percolating. Mary, how are you feeling is he starting to deal with these issues?

Well, it was disturbing to me. I mean, the more he talked about it and I started to learn more about homosexuality, I became disturbed about the way the church was handling it too.

But I couldn't straight out say I hold a brother and a wrong.

I kept thinking my first thought was I just don't understand something.

There's some piece in this puzzle that I don't have that the brother had.

And if I knew what they know, then they would all make sense.

So that was my first suspicion was that they just knew a lot more than me.

And the other thought was, well, maybe they're just wrong, but kind of like blacks and the priesthood, but they'll figure it out and it'll be okay.

And it's not my job to question this. And so it disturbed me and it disturbed me too because it seemed like from there, then Peter started questioning all kinds of things about the church, which I didn't really appreciate at all.

I do want to be very upset with me.

Yeah.

So you're worried about him.

I was very worried about him because he, I mean, he was losing his testimony a piece at a time.

Kind of, it seemed like he would bring up something and I'd be like, oh, I don't even, you know, I don't even want to go there.

Have you gone for years?

It took a couple of years. It was really my second year practice.

This was all, this was a very interesting thing.

I went into therapy with the hope that I could possibly work at LDS family services because...
