Hello and welcome to a special edition of True Crime Daily The Podcast. I'm your host Anna Garcia.

Everyone in the world of true crime has a story to tell about a case that they worked on or that maybe they live through.

Some are high profile, some you have never heard of, but they are all fascinating.

Today's case is about the kidnapping and murder of a child that changed laws and paved the way for families of crime victims to become strong advocates for justice.

In October of 1993, a 12-year-old girl named Polly Class was abducted from her bedroom by a complete stranger who broke into the house as her

mother slept in the other room.

It happened in the small Northern California town of Petaluma. This crime happened just as cell phones and

the internet were emerging. People didn't have home security cameras and there was no DNA

testing and there was no national criminal database like the one we have now.

Polly's killer was a felon with a long criminal history who was back out on the streets when this happened.

But finding him and ultimately Polly's body

were the result of old-fashioned detective work.
