The Office for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described a warrant for his arrest

as, quote, absurd and politically biased. The International Criminal Court has issued warrants for

Netanyahu, his former defense minister, and a Hamas leader, Israeli forces

claim they killed earlier this year. It's accusing Netanyahu of war crimes, including,

quote, starvation as a method of warfare. The U.S. says it fundamentally rejects the decision,

and said, quote, troubling process errors led to it.

Neither the US nor Israel come under the ICC's jurisdiction,

but the Vice President of the European Commission, Joseph Borrell,

says the court's decision is binding for all EU countries.

It is not a political decision.

It is the decision of a court, of a court of justice,

an international court of justice.

And the decision of the court has to be respected and implemented.

While the warrants don't guarantee arrests,

they could significantly restrict Netanyahu's ability to travel to ICC member states.

This comes as Gaza health authorities say the death toll there has now passed 44,000 people.
