President-elect Donald Trump's cabinet confirmation hearing started today.

And in the hot seat first is his defense secretary pick, Pete Hegseth.

The veteran and former Fox News host is being questioned about allegations ranging from

sexual assault and excessive drinking in the workplace to mismanagement of funds.

In the hearing, he categorized the various allegations that have come out against him as a smear campaign.

Hegseth told the Senate Armed Services Committee in his opening remarks,

Trump chose him for the job because he wants to bring, quote,

warrior culture to the Pentagon.

He, like me, wants a Pentagon, laser focused on lethality, meritocracy, warfighting,

accountability, and readiness.

Returning the Pentagon back to warfighting, that's it.
