More than half of the US population is getting hit with some type of extreme weather today,

ranging from blinding snow to strong gusts of wind.

The Storm Prediction Center says more than 40 million people are under severe storm threat.

From the plains to the East Coast, people are at risk of snow, strong winds, and tornadoes.

While in the south, residents are facing a strong line of thunderstorms, with tornadoes already

causing significant damage in the Florida Panhandle.

Nearly 400,000 customers across the eastern half of the

U.S. have lost power according to power outage. U.S.

Kansas has declared a state of disaster emergency as the state's highway patrol warns of

deteriorating conditions and little visibility. We've got a different day today. Snow and

wind is carrying across our state and it's causing slide-offs and wrecks. Please slow down.

Boeing is set to hold an all-employee meeting on safety today as the company faces

scrutiny once again over the quality of its aircraft.

It comes after both Alaska Airlines and United Airlines say they found loose hardware,

including bolts on some of their Boeing 737 Max Nine jets.
