Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the country's military, quote,

unintentionally struck innocent people in Gaza. It happens in war and we are thoroughly investigating it.

We are in contact with the governments and will do everything to prevent such occurrences

in the future.

The World Central Kitchen Charity says at least seven aid workers from all over the world

were the ones killed by an Israeli air strike while delivering food to civilians and

described it as a quote unforgfrievable targeted attack.

The attack is being met with international outrage,

while Israel's military says its top general will personally review the findings of the

deadly strike.

Meanwhile Iran and Syria blame Israel for yesterday's

attack on Iran's consulate building in Damascus that killed two of its top

military commanders and others. And Iran is vowing to retaliate, raising the risk of a wider Middle Eastern conflict.

A U.S. official said Washington told Iran it was not involved and didn't know about the strike beforehand.

While the Israeli military told CNN it does not comment on foreign reports.
