My name is Will DeFries and this is the Sunday Scariest Podcast, York Here for the Sunday Blues.

Friends is a show about six people in their mid to late twenties who live idealistic lives in New York City.

0:20.7

They spend all their time at a coffee shop without having to worry much about getting their spot,

0:25.1

and they live in apartments with square footage that you're more likely to see on a listing for a townhouse.

0:30.5

But somehow the most unrealistic part of all of it is that for ten years these six people managed

0:35.4

to make no major changes to their friend group. Sure, a couple of them got married, one more than

0:40.5

once, and significant others came and went, but there was never really a major shake-up.

Joey getting an acting gig in Los Angeles, Monica giving up the grind of working in New York City

kitchens only to move up state, Rachel getting a Ralph Lauren promotion only to begin hanging out

Twitter, so what's the difference really? It all began in an early age for me. I'm not sure how old I

1:20.6

was at the time, but I remember that it was around a time when I wore the same hunter-green

1:24.1

Tommy Hill figure crew next sweatshirt all too often. I just remember constantly having knots in

1:29.5

my stomach. My parents in school counselors probably thought I was faking it, but just the idea of

1:34.8

walking into a room of 25 kids that I'd never met before made me feel like an anxious mess,

1:39.6

even as a first or second grader. And as I've grown older, I found that feeling never really goes away,

1:45.9

being in a crowded bar in a city I don't frequent often, going to a dinner party where I've never

1:50.4

really met anyone but the host, even moving into a new apartment and saying hi to people at the

1:55.1

dog park. There are three milestones that I believe most people want to accomplish in their 20s
