Summary

It's been four years since Missy Bevers was murdered in a church in Texas. Surveillance cameras caught her killer, but to this day, we don't know his name, his motive, or even if he is a he. Was Missy stalked and murdered, or was she in the wrong place at the wrong time? I'm Brett and I'm Alice and we are the prosecutors.

0:28.7

Today on The Prosecutors, we investigate the mysterious death of Missy Beaver's.

0:58.7

Hello everybody and welcome to the latest episode of The Prosecutors. My name is Brett and I'm your host today and I am joined as always with my extraordinary co-host, Alice.

1:14.7

Hey Brett, thank you for such a nice introduction.

1:18.7

You know I try, I try Alice. I want to make sure everybody knows just how great you are.

1:22.7

So you know Alice, I have some bad news for our listeners. We recorded probably the greatest episode of True Crime in podcast history.

1:34.7

I mean I don't know if they give out polsters or Nobel prizes for podcast episodes but...

1:40.7

I mean can I just say it was it was a stunning feat of mastery that has never really been seen in modern era.

1:48.7

I think transcendent transcendent is a word you could use to describe it. But unfortunately in a tragedy up there with the burning of the library of Alexandria, it was lost in a tragic file saving accident.

2:03.7

So we're gonna re-record today but I mean I'm just gonna tell you you know lightning doesn't strike twice like that. I mean when you have a masterpiece and it's lost, you just have to do the best you can.

2:14.7

So let's hope it doesn't strike twice because a lightning struck your tree which fell on your house. So...

2:20.7

Yes, good point, good point. We want the file saving gods to be with us today. So hopefully they will be. But hey, all this means is it's like we did a run through of this episode.

2:31.7

So you guys are gonna get our true brilliance shining through. So today we are going to talk about the death of Missy Bevers.

2:40.7

This is a case I'm sure many of you are familiar with. It's a case that's covered a lot. So the way we're gonna do this today, we're gonna talk about the facts of the case because one thing that we've learned even in the short time we've been doing this podcast is no matter how many times a case is covered.

2:57.7

There are still plenty of people out there who either haven't heard a deep dive on the cases or only know generally about them. We have a fan in Romania shout out to them who was telling us that before our release in LAM episode which is an incredibly covered case.

3:16.7

They didn't actually know the details of that case. So I think one thing we're always gonna try to do is give you the background and sort of go through the case. But then we really want to apply some of our proscutorial background to this case and look at the investigation and where it stands and try and and guess is not a good word but using our expertise and our experience in these kinds of investigations.

3:42.7

Even though we don't have any inside information here, sort of walk you through what we think the police have done up to this point and why they may have reached some of the conclusions that they have reached. So that's our plan.

3:56.7

We want to give a shout out to the Ronan Wheels blog which is done a lot of great reporting on this case. We really enjoyed it and it really sort of guided some of our thoughts here. So hope you guys will check that out. We'll have that link and several others up on the website.

4:11.7

When this episode goes live but having said all that, turn it over to Alice.

4:18.7

All right. So as Brett mentioned, this is actually a recent case. This occurred just in 2016 and it's actually an ongoing investigation because the police have not caught who did this.

4:33.7

Now Brett mentioned that we were going to dive into the death of Missy Beaver but I think to be more specific and more accurate the murder of Missy Beaver.

4:41.7

There is no question that she was in fact murdered. So Missy Beaver is a 45 year old woman who lives in Midlothian Texas and she teaches a fitness class early mornings at the Creek side church of Christ in Midlothian Texas.
