And we begin with a colorful rock band

handing its epic career to avatars.

The members of Kiss said their final live goodbye over the weekend in a concert at New York's Madison Square Garden.

The band which has been performing since 1973 has decided to bow out after 50 years, sort of.

At last weekend's concert after they reached what appeared to be the end of the show,

the four rockers disappeared in a huge cloud of smoke, only to be replaced by their digital doppel gangers.

Computer images of each band member appeared on a giant screen to perform a final song for the audience.

A spokesperson for Kiss says the avatars will allow them to continue to perform forever

and even give concerts in different cities simultaneously.

The avatars were created by George Lucas's company, Industrial Light and Magic.

It's a quantum leap for science.
