Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Tori. It's Tuesday, December 1st, 2020, and we begin with a radical about-face as New York City, the nation's largest school district, will now start offering in-person classes

on Monday.

This applies to most preschool and elementary schools, followed by schools that offer special

education a couple days later. No word yet when middle or high school

classes will reopen and this will be available only to students who have

applied for in-school learning. Mayor Bill de Blasio made the announcement this weekend after all schools have been shut

down 10 days ago.

Why the change?

The Mayor says they're now convinced they can keep students and staff safe through regular virus testing.

He also stressed the aim is to move toward providing classes at schools five days a week

and vows this will remain in place for the duration, meaning until there's a vaccine.

Where to go? That's the question a lot of people are asking regarding the mysterious

10-foot tall metal structure that suddenly appeared two weeks ago in the Utah desert.

The internet went wild with theories.

Many believed it had to have been put there by aliens.

Then, over the weekend, it disappeared without a trace.

The State's Department of Public Safety discovered the gleaming object embedded

into a rock on November 18th, out counting big horned sheep in a remote area.

The exact location wasn't revealed to prevent people from trying to find it and getting stranded.

But a few intrepid hikers managed to discover the

structure last week, one shot a video where he confirmed it was hollow and not

magnetic. Now that it suddenly vanished, the mystery deepens with some jokingly wondering if those same space aliens came back to get it.
