scariest of which was our next-door neighbor. We lived in a secluded, wooded area on five acres. Our next-door neighbor's property was separated from ours by vacant but densely overgrown lots, connected by footpaths that you wouldn't likely be able to pick out without

For many years, this neighbor had been on good terms with my dad.

When my dad's addiction got truly out of hand,
