When I was 7 years old, my family packed up and moved from Georgia to Washington.

I was excited at first because I thought that we were moving to Washington, D.C. Turns out we were

leaving our hometown, which was Atlanta, for some small town I had never heard of in the state

of Washington. My family and I would often bounce between Georgia and Florida to visit family,

Due to relocating to a much safer area, a lot of the rules that I had once followed no longer

seemed applicable. I was able to play outside with my friends without my older brothers or parents

needing to shaperone. I was even allowed to go biking around the neighborhood on the new bike I

got from my 8th birthday. I didn't feel as nervous in my new environment, which eventually

led to me developing a false sense of security. The elementary school wasn't too far away from my
