| 0:00.0 | Good Tuesday morning again. Welcome to Squawk on the street. I'm Sarah Eisen with Carl Kintania live from Post 9 of the New York Stock Exchange. |
| 0:06.5 | Today, the volatile tech trade, chip stocks and memory names among the biggest losers driving this global tech sell off. |
| 0:12.1 | But Wall Street looking to clawback from the losses here. |
| 0:15.1 | As you can see, quantum names getting a boost today. The president backs the technology and seeks to fast track some development. |
| 0:22.8 | Sandbox AQ's Jack Hittery is going to be with us. Find out why he says the move marks a new |
| 0:26.9 | era in America's cyber defense posture. And meta doubling down on wearables. Debuting newer |
| 0:32.7 | and cheaper meta-designed smart glasses. We'll discuss how this move positions meta in the ongoing |
| 0:37.4 | AI race |
| 0:38.1 | with the company's VP of wearables. First up, though, in the markets, we are seeing a little bit of a |
| 0:44.4 | comeback. The Dow has actually gone positive. The NASDAQ, it's still down 1.5% as tech weighs on the |
| 0:50.1 | overall market. But beyond the defensive groups, which opened higher, like Staples, real estate, |
| 0:53.8 | and utilities, you have strength now in financials and in energy. You're still seeing pressure on Micron following the move overnight in South Korea's Kaspi Index, which took down SK. Hynix and Samsung. Micron's down 10% into earnings tomorrow, and Vidia is down, too. But some of the hyperscalers are actually a little bit higher, like a Microsoft, Amazon, and meta and Apple. They've been weaker in recent days. Tech, of course, dragging down the NAS&S&S&P today, a bit of a rebound off the lows. Michael Santoli's here with his take as we watched some levels as we opened around 7350, as we said earlier. We did. As a matter of fact, |
| 1:28.3 | it was almost a scripted bounce off the 50-day moving average for the S&P. So that's what, |
| 1:33.2 | I guess, some dip buyers got, courtesy of this backsliding in the memory trade. The conditioning |
| 1:38.8 | of this market is so strong as we were talking earlier, just about trading one thing against |
| 1:43.2 | another, rotating away from the |
| 1:45.1 | stuff that's under selling pressure, and finding some laggards, at least on a short-term basis. |
| 1:49.9 | That's what's going on. New York Stock Exchange's breath actually turned positive after a very |
| 1:54.0 | weak opening. So the big question has been if this leadership sector, the high momentum, |
| 2:00.1 | high beta stocks that are mostly around |
| 2:02.0 | semis, if they do have a more sustained gut check, can the overall market more or less absorb |
| 2:07.9 | that pressure and find another way for the outlets? |
