A caller called in and just to refresh was asking about reparations and sort of questioning

how it might be best to implement a policy of reparations.

And was pointing out that for sort of logistical, real, politic reasons might it make more sense

to implement reparations, not as a targeted program, but as a universal program.

And in my discussion about that, I pointed out that it's not just about the program.

It's not just about correcting economic inequalities, although that is of course a huge part

But really reparations is about forcing the country to face its history and to at long

last genuinely try to make amends for it.

And you just can't do that with a universal program.

And what I said is that reparations by definition are not universal.

So to do a universal program would be nice and maybe helpful.

It just wouldn't be reparations.
