This was the most frightening experience of my life.

My story happened about ten years ago.

I was a seven year old with no worries.

And the idea that the world was a completely safe and happy place.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

My story began in the hottest summer in years, which was pretty strange as I live in northern

England where it just seems to pour with rain all year long.

My family and I were going on a trip to what looked like a cute little campsite surrounded

by trees and lit by the strangely warm sunlight with my local scout troop.

The first day there was lovely.

It made me think this trip was going to be the best one I'd ever taken.
