Summary

I was sitting in a coffee shop on a couch near two. One was Evangelical and she had convinced a Catholic woman to start attending her church. Their conversation was interesting and serves as instruction for us Catholics on how we lose Catholics and what we can do to be better witnesses and better followers of Jesus. 0:00.0	Hey, this is Taylor Marshall. I'm just driving in my car doing a real short
0:08.2	podcast. I've never done this before, so we'll see how it works. I was at a coffee
0:11.5	shop on a couch, just getting some work done and next to me were two
0:18.3	middle-aged upper-class ladies and they were talking about spirituality church Bible study
0:26.3	worship all that so I allowed my ears to listen in on their conversation and I
0:32.0	could figure out that one lady was a very
0:34.3	with it mega church evangelical Protestant. The other lady was not to theologically astute and I could tell by her references to the church that she was a Catholic
0:52.3	referred to a couple local parishes that she referred to a couple of local parishes that she attends where her husband grew up etc.
0:57.6	And it was very clear that they were meaning because the Catholic lady was beginning to go to the Evangelical Lady's church and they were talking
1:08.8	about worship. They were talking about the new Bible study that she's in and the Catholic lady was very apologetic that she didn't know anything and
1:18.3	You know she needed to be caught up on a lot of things and they're going back and forth and so I was just listening as an
1:24.3	experiment I didn't want to butt in and try to correct anything that was going on at that
1:28.8	moment because they were kind of to themselves and I thought it'd be rude just to
1:33.8	bargain as a stranger. But I did notice a couple things and I wanted to do a
1:38.6	podcast on some of my observations of that conversation and how we as Catholics can hopefully make adjustments
1:48.9	and corrections so that this doesn't happen to us.
1:53.0	Okay, so the first thing I noticed was that the Evangelical Protestant lady was very
1:57.0	zealous.
1:58.0	She was biblically literate.
1:59.0	She was using phrases that I recognized as coming from the scriptures.
2:05.0	She also was in very, she was very enthusiastic about her local parish.
2:12.0	She was bragging about the youth ministry, the youth minister, how awesome
