First time homebuyers, Jacob and his partner had been renting in the very expensive DC area for nine months.

When they moved in, they had just gotten there after rents had already increased 60% in their building.

So they were already paying that premium.

Well, after living there for nine months, they discovered their rents were going to be going up again in three months, another 30%.

So that means that they were looking to avoid that 90% increase over the last 12 months.

So thankfully, they had started to plan to buy a home.

When did you close on your property?

Yeah, we closed back in mid-May.

So it's been about two months and moved in in early June.

So I've been in the place for about six weeks now, still getting settled and some projects to do, but nothing major.

So starting to feel like this is home.
