Welcome back to another episode and today I mean we are in the thick of just

playoff madness, games coming at us night after night. So I'm very happy to have someone else besides Cody to bang some ideas around with.

He is the one and only Howard Beck from Sports Illustrated, formerly Bleacher Report.

You've been so many places I can't even keep track how you doing?

I'm good not that many places but you know it's kind of the the reality of modern media is that none of us are anywhere for more than about, you know, five to ten years.

No one's getting the retirement gold watch after, you know, a 50 year run, you know,

uh, friend like some of my older friends in the business and I mean older respectfully

guys like Harvey Aertan spent you know most of his career with the New York Times where I was for nine years and

I always wondered what that would be like to just you know be part of the

institution especially that institution for that long but other opportunities arose so but in terms of my

MBA career it's pretty much LA Daily News for seven years

cover the Lakers chakakobe nine years of the New York Times mostly a lot of

Knicks mayhem and some other national stuff mixed in seven years bleacher report covering NBA at large, and then the last year and a half or so at SI.

So, you know, that's 25 years for media gigs.

It's not, you know, like it's, that's about the norm for us, unfortunately.

That's a pretty good run though.

That's a healthy, you know know two and a half decade run going

back to Kobe and Shaq and of course the League has changed a lot over those
