And she said, oh, it was pretty bad.

She said that not only did the engine explode, what we call an uncontained engine failure,

but the cowling peeled back, like a banana peel, it destroyed a huge chunk of the leading edge.

So her and her first officer, Darren Elliser,

really had to wrestle that airplane down because she said that as soon as the explosion happened,

it rolled about 50 degrees left and pitched down. And so just happening at the snap of a finger,

you'd almost think that's, you know, it was going to roll upside down.

And she said it took two of them just to write the airplane.

And that was Flying Magazine senior editor Rob Mark talking about meeting the pilot who landed a Southwest jet after it had an uncontained engine failure last year.
