Welcome to today's episode of the award-winning Best of the Left podcast, in which we shall

learn about one of the most important and least understood problems with our broken

democracy.

We'll start out by learning what gerrymandering is and why what we're dealing with now

is not the same as your grandfather's gerrymandering, which is basically innocent election

hype jinks by comparison.

We'll hear about the case now in front of the Supreme Court that will have a profound

impact on the future of who gets to draw the lines that determines elections going

forward.

Toward the end, we'll hear why this should not be a partisan issue and how moderate

Democrats and Republicans, the vast majority of the country, by the way, should be in favor

of gerrymandering reform, if we can get them to stay awake after hearing that term, and

finally stick around to the very end where we will discuss an alternate legislative solution

to completely negate the effects of gerrymandering and get our democracy back on the road to

functionality, regardless of what the Supreme Court says.
