The Bible Study Podcast, episode 115. Today, the Bible Study podcast continues the study of the

0:05.9

book of Luke and of Chapter 8.

0:16.3

Welcome to the Bible Study podcast. I'm your host, Chris Christensen. Where we left in Luke

0:21.5

chapter 8 was at verse 21. The first half of this chapter is interesting because it talks

0:27.1

about some of the teachings of Jesus. And we've dealt with that. But now we're going on to

0:32.2

four different stories dealing with the power of Jesus. His power over the elements, his power over the demons,

0:39.8

his power over sickness, and his power over death. I'm not sure how many of those will finish up

Where's your faith, he asked his disciples.

1:18.9

In fear and amazement, they asked one another,

1:22.9

Who is this?

1:24.8

He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.

1:31.7

One of the things we should say about this story is this is a moment where the disciples

1:36.5

get something that we sometimes miss, which is that Jesus is more than just a teacher.

1:43.6

Jesus is someone who has authority.

1:46.6

He is someone who, even the winds and the waters, obey him.

1:50.7

And they are startled by this.

1:53.1

Even though they have left everything they have to follow him,

1:57.6

they still didn't know what they were getting into

1:59.8

and they still didn't know who this Jesus was.
