0:21.2 | And in order to do that, we need to cultivate this virtue by practicing it. |
0:26.9 | So I thought I'd give you a few suggestions today. First, here's the verse, |
0:31.4 | verse Thessalonians 5, 17, and 18, pray without ceasing in everything. |
0:38.0 | Give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. |
0:42.9 | So notice what is God's will for us in Christ Jesus to be praying all the time and giving thanks |
0:50.4 | for everything. When? Well, always. And for what? For everything for all things. |
0:58.5 | And why would this be God's will for us? Because living this way transforms us and sanctifies |
1:05.8 | us and brings us more and more into conformity with His perfect will for us. |
1:12.4 | When we choose to give thanks, we're trusting God. And when you trust God, |
1:16.7 | you're growing into the person He has designed you to be. Time is short. |
1:21.9 | So pray all the time. Ask the Holy Spirit to inspire your prayers. |
1:27.3 | Give thanks for everything day in and day out. None of us know how much time we have to accomplish |
1:33.5 | all that God has called us to do. But this much we do know for certain. He wants us to be good |
1:40.1 | at gratitude. It's a habit of mind and heart. He wants us to cultivate. |
1:45.5 | So let's start with the end of the day instead of at the beginning. Let's start when you lie down |
1:52.1 | to sleep. Count your blessings from the day and give thanks. If you lie down with annoyances |
1:58.8 | or worries or bitterness, these are all nasty, nasty weeds that are going to root and grow overnight. |
2:07.4 | Whether you get any sleep or not, you're going to wake up with them all still there only bigger. |
2:13.5 | So never go to sleep out of fellowship. Rather cultivate the habit of giving thanks |
