This is a podcast from comedian podgos. Hello and welcome to the show I'm Stuart Goldsmith and today I'm talking to a man who I am

going to persist in describing as the professor. I don't remember who I got that off. I'm sure it maybe

it invented itself. You'll hear that John Gordillo does not like to be referred to as

the professor, but in the manner of nicknames the world over I'm determined to continue it because nicknames aren't

all about the person liking them. The reason people think of him like this, well we go into

detail on it, John is one of the most analytical but not just not in a kind of

purely cerebral way, although he's obviously very very intelligent, but John seems to just have almost like a good theatre director's

understanding of stand-up. We'll talk a little bit later on about some of his experiences

directing and working with, writing with other stand-ups.

But he just has, he's like, he's a bit like a lecturer.

Now I don't know if you went to university, certainly the place that I went to, to wasn't really a university, but there were a couple of people like John there who just seemed to know so much about a subject, to have such a breadth of experience and also to be able to

communicate that information in a way that simultaneously inspired you and made you

feel that you weren't an idiot for trying to think along those lines anyway.

So I'm very pleased to bring you the first part of this is another raging two-parter.
