Summary

In today's episode, GIna shares three simple practices to help listeners develop a calmer, more peaceful life. These practices include meditation (in this case, with a spiritual passage), slowing down and training the senses. Creating more space around us helps us more easily integrate all the activities going on in our lives. Being mindful of what information we allow into our consciousness (such as through the media we consume) can help us cultivate inner peace more easily. Listen in for guidance in all three of these areas. We are remaking the brain, rewiring it, so that our old conditioning begins to fade, and a new person begins to emerge. -Eknath Easwaran Chapters 0:26 Introduction to Overwhelm and Ease 4:12 Meditation: The Heart of the Program 10:20 Slowing Down for Clarity 12:17 Training the Senses for Awareness 14:52 Recap of Calming Practices 17:19 Transformative Power of Practice Summary In this episode, I explore the journey from overwhelm to ease by sharing three transformative practices aimed at fostering a calmer life. Drawing from Eknath Eswaran's impactful eight-point program featured in his book "Words to Live By," I emphasize how these timeless approaches to inner peace remain relevant even decades after publication. The teachings that resonate with me are rooted in spiritual wisdom and offer practical methods to soothe the nervous system amidst the chaos of modern living. The first practice centers around the essence of meditation. I highlight Eswaran’s guidance on establishing a dedicated space for meditation, explaining the importance of consistency in practice. I read excerpts from his work that underscore the significance of focusing on carefully chosen passages, such as the prayer of St. Francis, during meditation sessions. This structured approach not only carves out quiet moments in our bustling lives but also helps us internalize positive thoughts, slowly transforming our outlook and interactions. #anxiety, #anxietyrelief, #calm, #peace, #mindfulness, #meditation, #stressreduction, #nervoussystem, #spiritualwisdom, #personalgrowth, #selfcare, #wellbeing, #eknatheswaran, #podcast, #anxietycoachespodcast, #anxietyawareness, #livingwithanxiety, #mentalhealth, #mentalwellness, #emotionalwellbeing, #selfcompassion, #innerpeacejourney, #mindfulmoments, #slowliving, #intentionalliving, #sensoryawareness, #spiritualjourney, #wisdomtraditions, #holistichealth, #nervoussystemsupport, #calmingpractices, #findingpeace, #embracingcalm, #resiliencebuilding, #selfdiscovery, #wellbeingforall, #accessiblewellbeing, #neurodiversityaffirming, #gentlepractices, #presentmoment, #innerself, #mindbodyconnection, #healingjourney Learn more about your ad choices. And I want to talk about three practices for a calmer life. These practices may not be new, but the perspective

0:57.3

will be new, because these are from Ekneth Eswaran in his eight-point program, which is out of

1:05.1

a book called Words to Live By, Inspiration for Every Day. And I want you to keep in mind as I'm going through

1:12.8

this and reading a couple of little passages for you that this book was written in 1990. And the

1:20.2

reason that it is so special to me is because it made a huge difference to me when I picked it up

in either 1993 or 1994.

And so many of the things that I began to understand about my mind and my body and its

connection to how I was feeling came from this type of reading and information. Remember,

I mean, it was a different world. And it was also a way that we had to really digest what we were taking in, unlike today where we can

zip from one thing to another. So let me tell you about Echneth's short little piece about him

2:12.3

in case you haven't heard me talk about him before I did use some of his information in episode 1131,

so you can listen to that for a longer intro about him. But briefly, Ekna Thessweron was a

into practical modern life.
