Summary

In this episode, I sit down with my podcast producer and growth strategist, Matt Stockton, to break down the power of core values. We dive into why establishing your values isn’t just a nice idea—it’s the foundation for clarity, accountability, and making decisions that actually move you forward.

Through real-life examples—both personal and business—we unpack how core values keep you grounded, especially when life gets tough. With insights from influential authors and biblical principles woven in, we explore how staying true to your values leads to consistent growth, resilience, and success.

Everybody should have values that they write down.

0:01.9

It keeps you accountable, but it also says like, hey, we're not doing that.

0:05.5

We're missing this.

0:06.7

Right.

0:07.6

And then two, it's just like, what are you driving towards?

0:10.4

When we're making these goals, do these fuel the goals that we've set?

0:14.8

Well, these written down statements help us get to that thing.

0:21.1

because then you're like, oh, okay, well, these goals don't necessarily match the values of our

0:26.1

everyday decision making. What has happened in the past when our core values, our purpose,

and our goals weren't very clearly established, is it everyone was trying to create a strategy

0:36.0

and then tactics that would accomplish that

0:39.2

strategy based off the vision they had in their head because when you go to pursue your goals

if you don't have core values it makes that decision-making process very challenging because

0:50.5

anything's free game like in order to accomplish my goal if there there's no value, I can cheat, steal, lie,

0:57.7

I can do all these things to accomplish that goal.

0:59.9

But when you have core values, you're not only proud of when you accomplish that goal,

1:05.4

but the way that you got there.

1:13.4

All right, welcome back to another episode of the podcast.

1:17.4

Today, we're doing something a little different.

1:21.4

And this topic, or I should say the reason we're doing this episode a little bit

1:26.8

differently, which may be something we do in the future, based off how this one goes, this topic is really important to me.
