$20-year-old Kelly Bergdove switched shifts with her sister at the Imperial gas station in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

It was supposed to be just another night shift, but this time something would go terribly wrong.

Between midnight and 2.30am, Kelly placed three phone calls to 911 about a man harassing her,

making obscene phone calls, and even exposing himself.

With each of the calls the fear in her voice grew, and just two minutes after her final call,

police arrived to find the gas station empty.

For 38 years, police and Kelly's family have searched for the truth and been left with only questions.

No suspects have ever been named, though a convicted murderer has surely been considered.

Now, authorities may be on the precipice of answering some of those haunting questions.
