pregnancy and is Tylenol safe?

Now this started out as an article that I published in 2014

when my daughter-in-law, who's a pediatrician

and master's in public health, was spending the night at my house.

She was pregnant with her second baby, my grandbaby, and she woke up in the morning and she

had a bit of a headache and she came down the stairs and said, V I've got a little headache is there anything I can take do you have any

Tylenol and all and now back story for those of you who aren't familiar with this I

was my midwife the midwife for my first grand baby and my second

grand baby. So I wasn't just being asked the question as Aviva, the mother-in-law, I was also

answering it as Aviva the midwife.

And so right around this time, some initial scrutiny

started getting raised over the safety of pregnancy

safety of Tylenol in pregnancy, based on some animal studies

that has suggested that its use can have important implications

for neurodevelopment and endocrine dysfunction

in babies when moms take it during pregnancy.

Now when we think about Tylenol or acetaminophen

as it's properly called, this pharmaceutical name,

most people just reach for it every day like it's

no big deal and two-thirds of women have used it in pregnancy but it's not
