Summary

Would you give up a ticket for a midnight (overnight) train to Georgia to make someone else’s dreams come true? In watching “Maryellen 1955, Extraordinary Christmas,” part of the “American Girl Story” series of short films, we learned that Maryellen certainly would do such a thing. She’d also do just about anything to make other children happy—especially if it meant a moment in the spotlight. If you’re wondering how two AG books could be made into a full-on feature, wonder no more. We discuss Maryellen’s dreams for a red door and a white Christmas as they play out in this motion picture. We also consider how this movie departs from the Tripp Maryellen canon. Tune in, and in the spirit of Maryellen, consider borrowing some pants and painting the town red.

reliving the American Girl Series book by book. I'm Mary. I'm still Allison. Well,

1:18.4

still Allison, we've gathered here today to talk about the Maryland movie which title I've

1:23.6

already forgotten, not a judgment, just a statement. How are you doing? I'm doing great. I'm

1:29.3

here to talk about Mary Ellen, 1955, Extraordinary Christmas. Not to be confused with Extraordinary,

1:36.9

which Mary Ellen tells us is very different from Extraordinary. This movie was free. Was it worth it?

1:46.2

I don't want to comment on that, but the best things in life are free. I think that's a great

1:51.9

thing. I would say that this movie was ordinary. It happened. It was 50 minutes of my life or so.

Not the case. They said, we're not going to do linear. We're not going to do consistent.
