Summary

It's the end for Pinocchio. We left him last week the lead suspect in a murder investigation (no, I'm not joking), and we'll catch up to him on the beach, facing the authorities as he stands over the body with the murder weapon in hand. Also a lot of other stuff happens. Like, way too much stuff, like deep-fried puppets, snail butlers, and sleazy millionaires. And that's just in the first half of the episode. The creature this week is a gentleman who is so polite as to bow at every opportunity...but not so polite that he won't take every opportunity to fart out of his three anuses (still not joking). --- Next week: we're working, but there won't be an episode. Looking to subject yourself to more of my voice? Check out our other show, Fictional, where we adapt stories from classic literature and excellent public domain works. Go to fictional.fm to listen or subscribe, or just search "Fictional" wherever you get your podcasts. --- Music: "Le Monstre" by Chad Crouch/Podington Bear "Caterpillar Brigade" by Chad Crouch/Podington Bear "Go To Sleep" by Chad Crouch/Podington Bear "Stages of Awakening" by Chad Crouch/Podington Bear "Blossoming" by Chad Crouch/Podington Bear "Lamb and Wolf" by Chad Crouch/Podington Bear "Bell Club" by Chad Crouch/Podington Bear "Paper Boat" by Chad Crouch/Podington Bear "Coopers Hawk" by Chad Crouch/Podington Bear "Svela Tal" by Blue Dot Sessions

This is a podcast where I tell stories from mythology and folklore. Some are incredibly

0:43.6

popular stories you think you know, but with surprising origins. Others are stories that

0:48.2

might be new to you, but are definitely worth a listen. Previously on the show, we met Pinocchio,

0:53.2

a terrible little marionette on a redemptive arc after his craftsman dad,

0:57.2

Jepetto, was lost at sea. He lives with the turquoise fairy, his adoptive mom,

1:02.4

who is pledged to turn him into a real boy if he's good. So he tries, and because of that,

1:07.8

he becomes the target of bullying, which led to a group of boys learning him out to a beach,

1:12.4

and then accidentally bludgeoning a boy on the sand, with Pinocchio's textbook,

1:16.5

seeing the boy that they knew just had to be dead, the others took off as the police ran up,

1:21.6

leaving Pinocchio holding his bloody textbook next to the body.

1:35.9

Pinocchio sat on the sand, trembling. One soldier stood over him, while another

1:41.8

inspected the scene of the crime. A bulky mastiff sniffed the sand, then the book.

1:47.6

Now the soldiers were huddling, conferring with one another. It was obvious. The puppet had done it.

1:54.8

He had killed the boy. Just as they came to that conclusion, the wind blew, and took Pinocchio's

2:00.4

cap with it, he pointed it after it wordlessly, knowing it was futile. The soldiers would never let

2:06.6

him go after it. Yet another memory of his father. Gone. You want to go get that?
