But first up, we've got an interview with best-selling author Diana Gabaldone.

Her Outlander series has been called The Smartest Set of Science Fiction Adventure

Romance has ever written by a Science PhD with a. the smartest by Battlestar Galacticus Ron Moore and will premiere on Stars on August 9th.

Well, hi David, how are you?

Good, good.

Okay, so I'm sure that a lot of our listeners are big Dr. Who fans,

and so they might be interested to hear that your Outlander series

was actually inspired by Dr. Who.

So could you tell us about that?

Yeah, well, I was intending to write a novel for practice

and had decided that for me, the easiest kind

would probably be historical fiction. I was a scientist in my

previous incarnation but I was a university professor and I knew my way around a library that it seems easier to look things up and to make them up and if I turn out to have my imagination I can steal things from the historical record.

So the next question was, well, where am I to set this?
