It is a basic rule on preachers that when you're in the pulpit, you don't tell tall tales.

You don't lie. Just to put it very succinctly, some people may go to a book of illustrations,

that's kind of a popular thing of bygone generations of preachers.

The illustration may be borrowed from somebody, but you don't just make something up.

Now you might use an analogy. You might use a figure of speech,

but you don't say something happened when it didn't happen.

Unless, of course, you happen to be maybe a typical charismatic preacher, especially the ones

that are raking in money and whose people are willing to believe just about anything they say,
