Welcome to the Feminine Podcast. This is Nancy Wilson.

Thanks for joining me today. Last week I talked about the importance of disciplining our children,

0:22.8

so they will be good disciples of the Lord Jesus. This week I want to look at another aspect of discipline.

0:29.0

The foundation of all our discipline of our children is the example that God has laid down for us in

0:34.7

his word about how he disciplines his own children, namely us. We will not be any good at dispensing

0:41.6

discipline unless we ourselves are under discipline. Deuteronomy 8.5, you should know in your heart

0:49.0

that as a man chasens his son, so the Lord your God chasens you. And then this section from Hebrews 12

1:47.8

his holiness. Now no chasening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful. Nevertheless,

1:54.8

afterward he yields a peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

2:00.4

Okay, obviously this is a great passage and there's so much in it, but I'm just going to hit a few

2:07.0

highlights. First of all, is God chasening or disciplining you then take heart? Don't be discouraged,

2:15.6

don't lose heart. Why? Because this is a sign that you are in the Lord's household. You are his.

2:22.8

If you are not disciplined, it would be a sign that you're illegitimate and not really a Christian
