Welcome back to the Dungeon Masters block, the place where we come to talk about the dungeon master, the most important person

in the game, the only person capable of playing God, killing characters, and lowering the

egos of all their people at the table. I'm your host for today, Dungeon Master Mitch. Today we're

going to be taking a trip to Munchkin land. We have a guest today, a returning guest, one of my best friends, hashtag Magic Marcus, here

with us, and he is going to discuss with me his journey as a munchkin, as a min-maxer, and some problems we've had to deal with in the

past, some solutions that we've come to along the way. I have a really, really, really great

time talking with him about that. And I really thank him for coming on the show for sharing

and opening up to you guys,

the listener. So get excited. It's going to be a great episode. But before we do that, I have

This podcast helped me get through the terrible D&D-List times of my graduate school preliminary exams

where you transition from Ph.D. student to Ph.D. candidate. Since all my players are in my same graduate school program at Purdue University,

it is hard to find time to sync up our schedules even for weekends.

So we only play once a month and started in May 2015.

Sometimes Lab just trumps the game and I totally understand and come up with story reasons

in game why their PCs would not just participate today.

I refuse to role play for them, so their absences became these one DM to one PC adventures,

where their side adventures defined their individual

characters, more than their actions in the group as a whole. It became a challenge for me to

see plot points in each of the PC side adventures, such that when the big group all got back

together again, we would have, much like the show, a story time where each of the PCs shared what they saw in the side adventures.
