Summary
In 249 AD Decius ousted Philip the Arab and ascended to the Imperial throne. Two years later though, Decius was dead after leading the legions to a massive defeat at the hands of the Goths.

| 1:17.0 | We left off last time in 248 AD when a short-lived rebellion in Moesia prompted Philip the Arab to send their respected Senator Guy's Dichius to the Danube to get the situation back under control. |
| 1:30.0 | Sending out Dichius was supposed to help secure the future of Philip's rule, but instead it was the catalyst for his demise. |
| 1:40.0 | Dichius arrived in the north and began making the rounds, inspecting this and telling someone to tuck in that. |
| 1:46.0 | And all the while, believe that he really was going to spend the next year or so restoring discipline to the Danube legions. |
| 1:53.0 | But the Danube legions had other ideas. |
| 1:57.0 | They had flinched from their first rebellion, possibly because Pecateonus was too much of a nobody to be taken seriously as Emperor. |
| 2:05.0 | But Dichius, well, you could really picture him drape in the purple. |
| 2:10.0 | So, with their grievances still unaddressed, they decided to make another play at revolution, this time with Dichius as their leader. |
| 2:21.0 | In the spring of 249, the troops surprised their new commander one morning by hailing him as Emperor. |
