Episode 11, the devastation of all of the islands of Britain. Before we get started, I'd like to

make a quick correction. A listener wrote to me this week to ask about my use of the term

vikingers when referring to more than one

vikinger. As I hope I've made clear by this point, vikinger is the Old Norse word for one who

went a Viking. The listener who wrote in is from Sweden, and they pointed out to me that the plural

of Viking in Swedish is Viking R.

And accordingly, my use of Vikingers sounded strange to their ears, as if I was using a double plural.

Now, this is absolutely correct, and the plural of the Old Norse vikinger is indeed Viking R.

And frankly, if I'm going to attempt to be edgy

and bring Old Norse terms back into style, I sure as hell should do it right. So, going forward,

more than one vikinger will be properly referred to as Viking R in this podcast. So thank you,
