Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Tori.

Today is Thursday, November 30th, 2023.

And we begin with the National Christmas Tree back upright after getting knocked to the ground Tuesday afternoon.

The 40-foot Norway Spruce located on the ellipse in front of the White House

toppled over due to a strong gust of wind

about 45 miles an hour.

After reviewing the tree's condition,

a National Park Service spokesman

told the Washington Post, a snap cable was replaced and the tree was raised back up by a crane, just in time

for tonight's official tree lighting ceremony.

The windy conditions were part of a wintry storm that blew down from the Arctic, bringing snow and the coldest

weather since March.
