Hello and welcome to the Tuesday November 21st 2017 edition of Tesla

0:10.9

Daily Unofficial Tesla Podcast. My name is Rob Mauer. Today we're talking

0:14.3

about a lot. We got a lot to cover Model 3, updated analyst note from Adam Jonas, and some news on

0:19.2

Uber. Tesla stock on Monday closed down 2% to $380.74 this compared to the NASDAQ up 0.12%.

0:26.4

Supercharger network update we are still at 1,051, supercharging locations.

0:30.5

All right, so let's hop right into the news. Today we have more model 3 vins registered with NHTSA.

0:35.3

Tesla has registered 1,200 more vins with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

0:39.4

or NHTSA. The highest vin that they have currently registered now is 3,840.

0:45.0

So as with all vin information, when we see higher vins, whether it's out in the wild or through

0:50.6

this registration process, it is good news to see the higher vins, but it doesn't

0:54.8

necessarily mean that Tesla has produced or is about to produce the numbers up to those bins.

1:01.3

We talked about the VIN batching process in the November 14th episode so if you haven't listened to that you can check that out.

1:06.0

But essentially what happens is Tesla doesn't necessarily produce these in an exact linear order.

1:10.0

So that somewhat limits the value of the Vins that we see in the wild but it does

1:13.9

establish a ceiling so similar to the vins settings in the wild establishing a

1:18.0

ceiling on deliveries these registrations with NHTSA sort of establish a ceiling for production.

1:24.2

My understanding of this data is that Tesla could not produce or deliver a vehicle without

1:28.3

having registered that VIN with NHTSA.

1:30.3

So again, this provides a really good ceiling for us knowing that production could not be beyond that 3,800 vehicle level that Tesla has registered with NHTSA.

1:37.5

So it's always good to see this registration information go up, but really all that does is increase the ceiling.

1:42.0

So for some more context, in late October,

1:45.0

Tesla had registered up to 2,600 Vins with NHTSA.
