And we need to get to little midterm talk eventually, but right now, please welcome the Armstrong and get a show Taylor Telfer to the Washington Post who's reporting on the big Google walk out that I guess swept the globe more or less. Taylor, how are you?

0:39.0

I'm great. Thanks for having me.

0:41.0

It's our pleasure. Thanks a million for sparing us a little bit of your time. So the folks at Google, a little stirred up about the company's sexual harassment history. Is that accurate?

0:50.0

Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. Basically, this is coming a week after a pretty big bomb shell report from the New York Times that showed there were pretty widespread allegations of sexual misconduct and sexual harassment and specifically against some really high ranking executives in the company, some of whom had received some pretty big payouts after internal investigations that found allegations against them to be credible.

1:16.0

So the big payouts, the biggest one was to one of the heavyweight tech guys who helped found the company, right?

1:22.0

That's correct. It was Andy Rubin and he was the creator of a lot of the Android technology and the times reported that he had received a $90 million payout when he left in 2014.

2:29.0

And mistreated when it comes to situations like these with sexual misconduct, misconduct where they're taken less seriously.

2:37.0

So in this case, gender equality would look like considering them on equal footing with the men.

2:43.0

So I was surprised to read that Google actually has something like 90,000 employees and they had a wave of walkouts worldwide.

2:50.0

That's correct. They were all scheduled up 11, 10 across the globe. And it rained from their California offices to Tokyo, to their tiny office in Singapore, Dublin and London and Berlin all participated.

3:03.0

It was a very, very widespread. I think the organizers said that they had participation from about 60% of the Google offices around the world.

3:10.0

And as Google said, they're going to do anything or comply or...

3:14.0

They've said that they supported the employees who chose to participate in the walkouts and that they were bringing in very valid points.

3:23.0

And they haven't made any explicit promises yet, which I think is what people are looking to see.

3:28.0

This is not something that is probably just going to go away.
