November 14th, 2025. And we begin with a first for the music industry. The new number one

country song in America is the creation of an artist that doesn't really exist.

Walk My Walk by Breaking Rust sits at the top of Billboard's country digital song sales chart with millions of streams.

Who is breaking rust?

The better question is, what is breaking rust?

There's no human voice.

It's entirely the work of artificial intelligence, with a cowboy as its imagery on Instagram.

According to Billboard, it's one of at least six AI songs to chart in the past few months,

and most people apparently can't tell the difference.

A new Ipsos poll found 97% of listeners cannot distinguish between a computer-generated song

and a human one. What's this mean for artists? Jason Palomara, an assistant professor of music

technology at Indiana University, told Newsweek, the one thing AI cannot yet replicate is the genuine,

continual, long-term connections with fans that

bring them into the process rather than just showing the song after the cake has been baked.

That level of deep connection is going to be very hard for AI to replicate.
