Hey friends, this is Michael Brown. Delighted to be with you today.

Do you remember a few months back I did a show on the King James version of the Bible

and said from time to time I want to do shows devoted to specific translations or translation traditions

and discuss them on the air and talk about strengths and talk about weaknesses

and because the king james is the most famous influential translation of all time in the english

language i said well let's let's start there and i've fully intended to get back to this but

especially since we switched for now from two hours a day to one hour a day of radio, I just haven't been able

to devote a show just to getting back to Bible translations. But in the aftermath of some comments

I made about the passion translation, which is a paraphrase, I thought, well, let's return to this,

and let's look at the larger subject of paraphrases of the Bible and then we'll take a

look at the passion translation in a bit more depth the message the new living translation which is

somewhat between a dynamic translation and a paraphrase the living Bible even take a glance at

Phillips which is a fairly mild paraphrase.

We'll take a look at those and we'll talk about paraphrases of the Bible.

Now, I'm going to devote the whole show to talking about this and not taking calls,

but for sure we'll be able to take calls on this subject in the days ahead.
