The government shutdown finally appears to be nearing an end.

The Senate took its final vote last night on a spending package that would fund the government through January.

On this vote, the eyes are 60, the nays are 40. The bill as amended is passed.

That sends the amended legislation back to the House for approval.

And hours earlier, Speaker Mike Johnson said the House would be ready to move quickly on a vote to reopen the government.

With the House in recess, he urged members to get a head start and begin returning to Washington immediately.
