Welcome to the Prayers of Rest podcast.

I am Ashtreda, your host, and I'm so excited today to be kicking off our brand new season,

praying like Jesus.

This is something that has been on my heart for quite a few months. In fact, before hitting record with my friend, who I'm going to introduce you to in a moment, we were just chatting about how easy it is to be doing all the spiritual things, to be reading your Bible and praying every day and going to church, and yet in the midst of it all,

miss Jesus, miss his presence with you, miss him in the practice of it.

And so this season, my heart desire for you is that we would take time to look at the model of how Jesus prayed,

look at how this rhythm, this practice

empowered and enabled him to delight in his father. Look at the model of prayer that he offered us in his prayer, the Lord's Prayer,

and how he invites us into that same delight, that we might

pray like Jesus, that we might join him in the prayers that he is praying as our great

high priest, as the intercessor at the Father's art hand. He's praying for us and making

intercession for us right now. And so we get to pray like Jesus. We get to pray with Jesus. I am so excited for

this upcoming season. And guys, I am jazzed about this conversation today. I have my friend

Leslie Bennett with us today to kick off our season, to talk about prayer. Like, as usual, like this isn't an interview. I told Leslie,

like, don't expect questions that you need to respond to. In fact, we were just chatting

for 20 minutes before I hit record. And finally, I was like, you know what, let's just hit

record. Let's have this conversation on air.
